My contribution

I led the redesign of Share Reuse Repair Institute’s website, newly built on Squarespace, improving information architecture and overall user flow as part of the Brands for Better Springboard program.

The problem

Due to an outdated design and the need to include required content for government approval, SRRIs site became more of an information dump than a browsable experience, making it difficult for users to navigate.

95%

of interviewees couldn’t clearly understand what the website offered.

Project goals

Create a site that’s easy to navigate and understand, while fulfilling accessibility and regulatory content needs.

  • Clear understanding of the organization

  • Content that’s simple to absorb and scan

Business Goal

  • Ensure website accessibility

Discovery research

While finding issues in the previous website we found out that it lacked structure and consistency across all pages, making it hard for users to understand the organization or find key information.

Checking out competitors

With the problems of the previous site in mind, we analyzed key competitors. The strongest sites had clear, structured homepages that answered user questions early and used banners to guide further navigation.

Design goals

Based on the needs of both the client and users identified through interviews, we defined key design goals to guide our decisions throughout the project.

01
Explain the organization

Focus on building content that explains who the organization is and what it offers.

02
Maintain consistency

Build a design system that ensures consistency in color, typography, and layout.

02
Ensure Easy Flow

Users should be able to navigate througout the page without any confusion and the purpose of the page should be clear,

The Design

Designing a new site IA

The new IA map focused on simplifying nested links and surfacing key information. Primary navigation CTAs were reworded for clarity, replacing a structure that exposed too many detailed links within the nav and felt cluttered.
