The opportunity

As part of their rebranding efforts, the Share Reuse Repair Institute sought to revamp their website to align with their new identity.

The problem

Through user interviews and testing, we identified key issues.

  • User Journey was too complex

  • 90% of users struggled with scattered content

  • Heavy text overwhelmed 80% users

  • Complex Navigation

90% landed on an empty homepage

Before diving into design, we conducted a competitive analysis to see how others guide users. While other sites use homepage banners to give a quick glimpse of key information and lead users with clear CTAs, our site lacked both.

Design goals

Based on the needs of both the client and users identified through interviews, we defined key design goals to guide our decisions throughout the project.

01
Shorten the path to content

The user journey to access most information was too complex, with too many pages to navigate.

02
Maintain consistency

With the site being information-heavy, we prioritized a well-organized design system to make the content easier to absorb.

03
Provide

guidance

Provide a friendly entry point with a brief introduction, allowing users to explore further if interested.

Shorten the path

→ Rebuilding Information Architecture

We removed third-level navigation and consolidated related project pages, reducing the steps users needed to find information.

→Applying new design system

We leveraged a consistent design system to reduce cognitive load and create a more focused, comfortable reading experience.

→ Make usage of the homepage

We used banners on select pages to briefly introduce the institution and invite visitors to explore further if interested.
